Report on the incidences of skeletal anomalies in three fish species from Bonny tributary (Niger delta), Nigeria

Three cases of skeletal anomalies in fishes Elops lacerta Valenciennes, 1847 (family Elopidae), Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Cichlidae) and Arius latiscutatus Günther, 1864 (Ariidae) collected the Elechi Creek, a tributary Bonny River (Niger delta) were reported for first time present study. The are pugheadness, complete absence pelvic fins deformed dorsal, pectoral fins. specimens E. have shown case pugheadness but at different levels severity. specimen O. showed Externally, area where bases should be found (underneath fins) normal scale covering (in form size). Internally by using radiography, no trace basipterygia observed. A. severe deformation finrays ventral spines dorsal also deformed. Pollution from Port Harcourt appears to causing deformities described.
